Finale!!!

Well today is the day we all have to present our Website to our tutors, kind of worried as it's not perfect...but at least I can say I tried my best.

I found this topic quite challenging because I had never used Fireworks or Dreamweaver before, and all the new terminology I had to learn was also hard. I had never heard of 'slicing', 'export wizard' and HTM before now!!!! As the weeks went on I got used to using these programs more and more and finally got my website finished.

I found Thomas, our tutor, to be very helpful, he was very patient when I was getting a little worried about what interactive parts were going on my front page.

To be honest I didn't think by the end of the 6 weeks I would have even half of my website working, but I think I have surprised myself in a way which I have a near complete website working, a few things need to be completed still such as my Portfolio pages. My mouse overs aren't perfect either but I am happy with what I have designed in the amount of time allocated. 

I would like to finish the website after this and most definitely put it on the internet successfully!!

I have been trying to get my website on the internet and its not working!!!! I am so relieved that other peoples aren't working!! or else i would be crying right about now!!

Body project

Had The Body crit today with sara, I thought I was doing ok with my project....but no. Compared with everyone elses ideas, I was behind. Not to worry, I got some good feedback from it and I am ready to start thinking about my layout for my book. I was getting a bit involved with my project because its about palm reading and tarot cards. I have never really believed in all of this before but since going and getting my palm read, I have changed my mind. I would recommend anyone in doing it, its a good experience. 

Weekend work

Had a really hectic weekend....tried to make my web pages perfect on fireworks, some of the slices are not quite right if you scroll over things on the page....

Also I tried to catch my Body sketchbook up for the crit tomorrow and the 'mock up' book for friday. 

Also john and edward are through on xfactor....whats going on in the world!!!!

My Palm Reading!!!!

Went to get my palm read today for research for the body project, it was such a good experience...heres what she said.

-I was a strong independent girl and don't like being told what to do.

-I don't like being bossed around, and I have my own mind.

-I was going to live to the age of 89

-One marriage

-I was going to have 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl.

-Later on in my career I will take a challenge which will pay off and I will be successful.

- I will drive a sports car.

-My boyfriend loves me, but I don't realise yet.

-When I am older I would live a Happy life, stay out of trouble and have alot of love around me.

I was well happy with that reading, but then again she could of said that to everyone!!! I f it ends up correct though I would be really happy!!!

Good News

Had Animation this morning....good news...we have another week for completion!!!! I am well happy about it. I was getting pretty worried with all the work I had to do all in for the same week, and it's a bit of a struggle to get the computers at uni to use motion. And when you DO use motion it freezes, or quits unexpectedly or takes ages to save! Rubbish Program! grrr.

I have finished the next 10 frames in my storyboard with all the filters an behaviors on them, the next bit of my animation is a bit harder so I am glad Ellie has given us an extra week!!!

Final Web Crit

Had final web cirt this morning, I just have a few things to tweek out on my final website design, My portfolio page is going to have a left hand side drop down section as you scroll over the portfolio title at the top. I will have Visual Communication, Typography, Photography, Illustration and Animation in my drop down icon....I am having problems keeping the options there when you scroll over the Portfolio title, they disappear.....I can't work out how to keep them visable if you move the mouse of the Portfolio title. They appear when you scroll over the portfolio title and disappear when you move the mouse off it....hmmmm. Looks like I will need to mess around with fireworks to see if I can make that work....hopefully I will be able to do it before hand in!!!!

Animation Continued....

Had Animation again today....started looking at Filters and Behaviours to put in my animation...upto now all I've used fade in/out!! I have done upto the 5th frame on my storyboard after this lesson...it would be so much easier if I had the program at home!!! Tried to download it, but in this case macs are worse than P.Cs!!1

Panicking!!

Just had lesson with Thomas yesterday morning on web design.....he wants us to start linking our pages now, so as you click onto the home page, your other pages are linked to it.

He got us in little groups which was good because we got more time with him to discuss our website and got our questions answered, if we had any problems.

I changed the front page a little bit and also changed the lay out of my portfolio page. I am a bit worried about linking all the pages together because it looks complicated, Thomas says its easy once you do it a few times. Although I have never used Fireworks or Dreamweaver!!!!

Final Ideas of layouts and designs....

Hey everyone!

Posted my final designs up for my website.....ALTHOUGH.....I think I have changed my mind on the front page. After the crit last Thurs, Thomas made a really good suggestion about my link pages. Instead of them being on the right hand side on my front page, he suggested that I should have them pop up as you scroll over the little rectangles that surround my logo.

So as you scroll over the red, 'Contacts' will appear in the clear white rectangle next to it, and so on. This design makes it more interactive for the viewer. 

Had lecture on Fireworks and dreamweaver....it looks rather simple when our lecturer Thomas does it....however when I tried to have a go...it didn't go so well. haha.

Hopefully I will get the hang of it!!!

Animation worries....

Had Animation this week....I was getting a tiny bit worried on how to use the impossible program that is MOTION!! But as the lesson went on, I started to get used to the program. I had my final layouts for my storyboard which Ellie said was too long!! Which is even better for me!

Hopefully everything will go well with it....even though it keeps crashing!! So annoying!

RVI museum

This week we went to the R.V.I medical school to draw some preserved body parts for our Body project. I really enjoyed this experience and did some drawings of the inside of a hand, a kidney and some bones from the ribcage. A couple of people found it a bit weird but I really liked the experience because I had never done anything like it before and you could appreciate what goes on underneath your skin.

We also saw some foetus', it showed you what a skeleton of a baby would look like so many weeks old, there were some weird looking babies though, ones with abnormalities and one with 1 eye in the middle of its head, which later we got told was a cyclopse mutation. WEIRD!!!

Experimental Image making.

To get us started on 'The Body' project, sara got our year to experiment with different media and how to draw faces. We used Post-it notes and acetate to draw on, and then experimented with real features on the face. This really helped me generate more ideas on facial features and expressions, and taught me how to use different media to experiment with, within a project.

These are my first ideas for my website designs, my original ideas for is was, my front page to look simple with a little bit of colour.

I have used Red, Green and Blue because these represent the computers design colours.  I wanted them to convey the I.T side of my design work to the client.

 I used a lower case typeface because I wanted to make it look more contemporary to the client.

I also wanted to keep my simplicity theme on the page, so I also kept the menu bars at the bottom

quite small, but I think its still rather effective.

This is my mood board that we had to do Ellie in Animation, she gave us an artist to research.

My artist was called Marimekko, I am very happy with my artist because their designs are very bright and colourful and I really like their fashion range.

They also do interior design which is really stylist and contemporary .
